For years, they were simply a rumour, spoken of in hushed tones at festival sites in the deepest reaches of South-West England, but now Rainbow Unit, the West Country improvising electronic trio, unleash their bewilderingly unstable acid wonk and boggart beats into the South East, and beyond.

Released via Heavy Rural on Bandcamp in time for Winter Solstice, their debut EP, Composting With Tape Recorders, stitches together blurts, glitches, spurts and jams – peppered with ruminant grooves and marshy melodies played on their increasingly antiquated electronic instruments – into an absurdist forty minute collage that will leave you legless but smiling.

Composting With Tape Recorders is out now, priced 50p and up.
